How 'speed friending' events can banish loneliness and help you find your adult tribe

Sara Hope says when she went along to an event to make new friends she was nervous and totally out of her comfort zone.
"It's just like your first day at school and you go, 'Who am I going to meet? Are they going to be nice? Am I going to be the odd one out?'," the 52-year-old said.
Ms Hope is one of dozens of women who have attended a Friend Request event on the Sunshine Coast.
Think speed dating — but you're finding a friend, not a potential partner.
The events are held across three age groups: 18 to 27, 28 to 44, and the over-45s.
Women sit in pairs and spend five to 10 minutes talking with each other. At the end of that time, they privately indicate on a sheet whether they would like to meet up again.
